Hello there! This is @gennacowsert of The Detroit Card Co. and I’m excited to be taking over Steadfast Supply’s Instagram today! The Detroit Card Co. is a one-woman paper goods company making colorful, modern items to brighten your day, including greeting cards, art prints, gift wrap and notebooks. I believe in living creatively, and I hope what makes me happy might make others happy too. Stay tuned for more posts throughout the day!
photo#2.jpg
As a little kid, I was crazy for making cards with my dot matrix printer, and my love for design has grown ever since. After getting a BFA in graphic design and working at a design studio for many years, in 2014 I decided to quit my day job and launch my own greeting card line and work as a freelance designer full time. Some cards are funny, some are sweet, but all of them share the colorful, minimalist style I’ve gravitated toward in all that I create for my #detroitcardco
photo#3.jpg
One of my more recently discovered interests is designing patterns. There is something so satisfying about seeing a repeat come together, and then seeing the pattern applied to things like wrapping paper and notebooks.
photo#4.jpg
I love yellow. If I could only design with one color, that would be it.
photo#5.jpg
Wrapping paper is one of my favorite things to create. The design process is especially fun, and I love seeing my final artwork translated from screen to 3-dimensional gift wrap.

I saved the cutest post for last. This is what my desktop looks like a lot of the time. This is my sidekick, Milo, and his company is one of the many perks of working for myself in my own home. Thank you to Steadfast Supply for letting me take over their Instagram for the day!

Hello! My name is Aashumi. I am the designer and founder of @mirasa.design: a fairtrade kids brand specializing in organic cotton, gender neutral clothing & accessories. We’re a socially conscious brand that believes strongly in giving back. Mirasa contributes a portion of all profits to Girls’ Education in India through Room to Read. I am excited to give you a glimpse of the Mirasa journey and the hats I wear as a designer, small business owner and parent.
photo 2.JPG
mirasa embodies much of how I enjoy living my life; playful and intentional. My day starts with our four year old embarking on some mischief :) Once the boys leave for work and school I zone into the silence of my home studio. I like starting my work day with some form of mindfulness whether it’s creative meditation through (making art) colouring/sketching or inverting into a headstand for a two minute hold- yes, on a timer.
photo 3.jpg
My day to day schedule varies depending on whether I’m in a creative or administrative mood. Instead of a daily task list I create a weekly ‘to do’ list. This exercise of writing down in a notebook or on chalk board helps make the plan more tangible- especially when it’s time to cross out :) I also like flipping through my old books as a reminder of mirasa’s EIGHT year journey and always staying forward.
photo 4.jpg
Over the 8 years Mirasa has evolved from being mostly handmade & eco friendly toys to organic clothing. It was a shift that evolved naturally from customer feedback, cost of production and having my son Akira. As an entrepreneur, designer and parent I’ve learned to be an observer + listener + doer re-routing as necessary. I’m inspired by color and pattern and I enjoy the process of product development and experimentation in all forms of surface design.
photo 5.JPG
I absolutely LOVE meeting my customers in person. Mirasa engages in all three channels of sales; Online, wholesale and retail at our weekend Pop Up at The Flea Market at Eastern Market on Capitol Hill (@easternmarketdc). It’s here that mirasa realized expansion through conversations with customers + creative friends on a platform that encouraged entrepreneurial exploration. Come on over any weekend to say Hello!
photo 6.JPG
What do I love doing most? Going upside down, relaxing with a glass of Malbec and of course hanging out with my family. Shifting gears isn’t always seamless, but I’m living my dream. I’ve worked very hard and been incredibly lucky to have all the support to get this far. Thanks @steadfastsupplydc for this awesome opportunity. Thank you all for following me today and remember to keep looking forward. Oh, whoops forgot, I also teach yoga twice a week to an amazing group of seniors and beginners. So happy to meet you’ll :) Cheers, Aashumi

Hi! We’re @lala_ivana and @kimchiha, Co-Founders of @meandyou.city, a startup 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in the DMV. Our story began three years ago on Valentine’s day, when neither of us had any plans. We figured, why not spend the day giving out care packages and a little bit of love to the homeless, people who actually needed it? Today, we work to make a difference in the lives of kids and families in need and those without a home on our streets, in our communities and around our city. We strive to make a direct impact on someone’s life, even if it’s only for a day. #meandyoudmv
Photo 2 - Packaging.jpeg
@meandyou.city partners with schools in the D.C. metro region to provide students with the necessary items for a well-rounded life. Most of the students come from low-income families, some are homeless and live in temporary housing. We work with teachers and administrative staff at the schools to determine need and provide support. We’ve provided school supplies, backpacks, clothes, school uniforms, and toiletries for their families to take home. #meandyoudmv
Photo-3---Basketball.jpg
One of @meandyou.city’s programs focuses on providing kids with greater access to experiences in the arts, sports, and other realms. For many of the families we help, taking their kids to these events are beyond their financial means or they simply don’t have the time. Last month, we took students from @jatrojans to a @washwizards game. Students got free t-shirts and were able to be on the floor to greet players as they came onto the court! It was a super exciting experience. #meandyoudmv #washwizards
Photo 4 - Homeless.jpg
When @meandyou.city first started, we wanted to have a positive effect on someone else’s life even if it was only for one day. Maybe we can’t change their entire life or provide them with a home, but we hope that by going out onto the streets and providing care packages, a home-cooked meal, and some conversation - that will be something of worth. #meandyoudmv #homeless #dchomeless
Photo 5 - Raising Money.JPG
We LOVE our volunteers and seeing people wearing our apparel around this city. We currently have tees, tanks, hoodies, snapbacks and beanies for sale! All proceeds go toward @meandyou.city’s projects. You can find our apparel in a brick and mortar store @steadfastsupplydc or you can message us directly. We ship :) If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact us! We love meeting and having new people get involved.  #meandyoudmv #steadfastsupply

THANK YOU for spending the day with @meandyou.city on our @steadfastsupplydc takeover. We hope you’ll FOLLOW US on our journey as we work to make a difference in the lives of kids and families in need, and those without a home in our city. 1---@dionnadorsey-_-@district_of_clothing.jpg
Hiii! I’m Dionna Dorsey, the Founder of and Creative Director for District of Clothing! I created DISTRICT in 2014 to build a community of empowerment. One that would triumphantly embrace the creative, entrepreneurial, and community dreamer and doer spirit blossoming throughout our city and our nation. I hope you’ll stay tuned and enjoy our time together today! I can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to…
AMAZI03.jpg

Birthed from the same spirit of those who reject the sidelines, awake with a passion to move forward and are inspired to make their dreams reality, District of Clothing believes every great dream starts with a dreamer and continues through the community building and sharing of doers like you. We’re a community of folks who wake up every morning believing we can win. And when we have those sure-to-come rough days, we’re surrounded by others who believe in us, and in the beauty of our dreams.

3---@lindseyparryyy-_-pc-@annameyerphoto-_-@district_of_clothing.jpg

DISTRICT was happily inspired by the local dreamers, doers, changemakers and future history makers. My first way of giving back to our beloved city was through the LE DISTRICT design. LE DISTRICT is a homage to Pierre Charles L'Enfant's influence on the design and vision of our beautiful beloved city as well as the love and pride within. (Um, yes, I wholeheartedly believe the District is totally America's Paris! Don’t you?) -- Now, while District of Clothing got her launch here, I purposefully intend to help spread this message across as many ‘districts’ as possible.

4---@mrarvinger-_-@district_of_clothing.jpg

My favorite and first design, and quite frankly the lynchpin to DISTRICT’s success, is the DREAMER/DOER series. I was dealing with the typical highs and lows of entrepreneurship and felt I needed to create something positive and encouraging—something reflective of what was happening around me. As a creative entrepreneur I'm constantly working with people who dream, and then actually take the initiative to make their dreams happen. – I sketched the design on a napkin and months later District of Clothing officially launched in December 2014 at the Google Politico Tory Burch Foundation Women Rule Summit Marketplace.

5---@dionnadorsey-_-@annameyerphoto-_-@district_of_clothing.jpg

As a creative entrepreneur, most days consist of emails and meetings, business development, coffee, marketing, more coffee (ha!), and sometimes photoshoots. Would you believe we actually didn’t schedule a shoot at all during 2017? Complete fail!) Needless to say, that’s changing in 2018 and we cannot wait to partner up with some of our favorites and show you our vision for the 2018 collection.

6---@district_of_clothing-_-@dionnadorsey.jpg

Well guys, that’s about it for today’s takeover! This was so much fun. Thanks for hanging with me. If there’s anything I hope to leave you with, it’s this: keep going. Keep trying, showing up and pushing through. It’s hard, but it’s worth it. Whatever your dream may be, choose to move forward and surround yourself with a team of folks who intend to stand up and fight for your dream, too. No matter what, just keep going. We need you. xoxo, Dionna

Hey, DC! My name is Renee, and I’m the founder of Amazi - @amazifoods. Amazi is a DC-based snack company, importing and selling delicious varieties of dried and roasted plantain chips from Uganda.
AMAZI03.jpg
All the way from Uganda? Yes! Why? We aim to go beyond ethically sourcing via Direct and Fair Trade - we want to promote industry development and job creation in Uganda. After time spent studying there, I was struck by huge issues of unemployment, food waste, and a lack of sustainable, local supply chains. Plus, I tasted the delicious plantains and craved them every time I returned to DC! The plantain cravings were real and my curiosity grew, so I returned to Uganda in April 2016 to scout and collaborate with farmers groups and organic fruit processing co-ops to make the Amazi magic happen!
AMAZI02.jpg
The result of this quest: Amazi plantain chips! Unlike any other chip you’ve tried before, Amazi are #driednotfried, with a hearty cracker-like crunch, free of grease and full of flavor. We do this to preserve the nutritious goodness of plantains - rich in potassium, Vitamins A and C, and resistant starch to promote healthy digestion. Subtly sweet, each of our four flavor varieties is made simply with organically grown plantains, either coconut oil or olive oil, and spices! That’s it. No gluten, no sugar, no preservatives - and vegan-friendly, too! The perfect snack to fuel you on your daily DC grind .
AMAZI04.jpg
What can you do with plantain chips? I’m so glad you asked! Our unique texture makes Amazi more versatile and durable than your typical chip. You can add them to any charcuterie platter, cheese & cracker spread, or sub out boring chips and dip. Try topping your morning yogurt with Cinnamon Spiced Amazi (or straight up eat them like cereal!!! SO good), throwing Salted Coconut Oil Amazi in your favorite trail mix, dipping Salted Olive Oil Amazi in hummus, or cooling down Chili Spiced Amazi on a salad with a summery tzatziki dressing.
AMAZI.jpg
We can’t redefine the plantain chip eating experience on our own though… and luckily, we have a hand with that. In building a brand that values connecting people to source and story, I have had the privilege of connecting with so many amazing, creative food bloggers, recipe developers, and food photographers to bring delicious Amazi-based recipes to you. Head to our feed to find gorgeous (and healthy!) desserts, dinners, breakfast bowls, and more! If you’re reading this and want to collaborate, DM us! Always looking for opportunities to partner **heart emoji** #snackonpurpose

After a full day of peddling plantain chips, we’re ready to wind down and cozy up with some of my favorite Netflix snacks… ;) I had so much fun sharing my story with you! Be sure to follow us @amazifoods on IG for more recipe creations, collaborations, and giveaways!
